The Service Coordination Connection:
Connecting Service Coordinators, Families, and

Appropriate Part C Services

Service Coordination, under Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), is provided at no cost to families to assure their rights and procedural safeguards and assist them in accessing appropriate early intervention services.  [303.23 (a)(1)]

Welcome to The Service Coordination Connection!  This page of the TECS website is devoted to the interests of:

*    Service coordinators and other interested Part C service providers.

*    Families who receive service coordination through South Carolina’s Part C program or would like more information on Part C Service Coordination.

The purposes of this web page are to:

*    Provide families with useful information related to service coordination as required by Part C of IDEA.

*    Provide service coordinators with useful tools, resources, and information that will help them to better “connect” families and children within SC’s Part C program to appropriate services.

Content for this page is selected with regard to the description of “service coordination” provided in Part C of the IDEA, as well as evidence-based and recommended practices in early childhood special education.  In addition, consideration is given to the significant role of Service Coordination providers in addressing Office of Special Education Program (OSEP) identified outcomes for children and families.

ALL NEW!  The Service Coordination Connection Blog!  Please visit this link to access our new blog for service coordinators.  This blog is dedicated to early intervention service coordinators who work within the BabyNet system. It will be moderated and updated regularly with information, questions, links, and other resources related to best practices in early intervention service delivery. The intent is to share common experiences and questions, learn, educate, make constructive suggestions, and to create a dialogue between service coordinators. We encourage Netetiquette in all postings

From the Service Coordination Connection page you can access resources, tools and information to assist in service coordination:

*    BabyNet Covered Diagnoses Guide (PDF, 793K):  This document was developed to give a brief description of each of the conditions listed in “Appendix 3: Covered Diagnoses” of the BabyNet Online Policy and Procedure Manual. The information gathered for this document was taken from various online peer/doctor reviewed resources.  At the bottom of each page, there is a link that connects directly to the online resource where the information was located.  It may be helpful to visit these links for more information on the specific diagnoses, as each fact sheet is one page and includes only a brief summary.

*    Coordinating Part C and Other Services: A Resource Guide For Service Coordinators (PDF, 129K):  This guide has been developed by TECS staff to give service coordinators information on making referrals to various programs and services in order to ensure that families and children in the BabyNet program meet IFSP goals and improve on Family and Child Outcomes.
