Online database of e-textbooks in clinical medicine and basic science, including Harrison's Manual of Medicine, Williams Obstetrics, and Hurst's the Heart. You can download sections from the book that have been optimized for PDA viewing by removing images and tables. It is compatible with the major PDA operating systems.

Essential Evidence Plus
The Essential Evidence Plus search engine allows users to simultaneously search via keyword a number of evidence-based resources, such as the 5 Minute Clinical Consult, Cochrane Systematic Review abstracts, decision support calculators, and practice guidelines. Available for Pocket PC and Palm devices.

MDConsult
Register for a personal account to access My PDA/POCKET consult. POCKET consult provides daily summaries of current medical news; weekly drug alerts; the latest abstracts from hundreds of journals; integrated access to Elsevier eDition books on your PDA; and the ability to record, store, and initiate searches on MD Consult right from your Palm OS or Pocket PC handheld device.

AIDSinfo
From the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. AIDSinfo offers three PDA tools: Antiretroviral Toxicity Tool (for Pocket PCs), Guidelines, and HIV/AIDS Glossary.

ATP III Cholesterol Management Implementation Tool
This tool from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute contains classification of lipid levels, risk assessment, drug therapy for lipid lowering, and information on metabolic syndrome. For Palm devices.

Diagnosaurus
Contains over 1000 differential diagnoses and can be searched by disease, symptom, or organ symptom.

Electronic Preventive Services Selector
The Electronic Preventive Services Selector (ePSS) is designed to help primary care clinicians identify the screening, counseling, and preventive medication services that are appropriate for their patients. It is based on current recommendations of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force and can be searched by specific patient characteristics, such as age, sex, and selected behavioral risk factors.

Software for searching MEDLINE from Palm or Pocket PC devices.

National Guideline Clearinghouse
From the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. This is a comprehensive database of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines. The complete summary for every guideline represented in the National Guideline Clearinghouse database can be downloaded and viewed in any Palm OS Document Reader that recognizes the standard Palm OS document file format.

NCBI Bookshelf
Free handheld versions of textbooks from the National Library of Medicine. For Palm and PocketPC devices.

OEI Treatment Guidelines Implementation Tool
From the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. Features include Body Mass Index calculations, determination of need for treatment, and follow-up and maintenance recommendations. For Palm and PocketPC 2003 devices.

Pneumonia Severity Index Calculator
From the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. An interactive tool to assist clinicians in determining the most appropriate care for newly diagnosed cases of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) at the point of care. It will help calculate the severity index of a pneumonia patient. The output includes mortality rates and pneumonia class types.

PubMed for Handhelds
A website for searching MEDLINE with the web browser of any mobile device.

Wireless System for Emergency Responders (WISER)
Software for Palm or Pocket PC devices to assist first responders in hazardous material incidents.
