| New legislation requires that peer-reviewed articles accepted for publication on or after April 7, 2008 and arising from National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding must be deposited to PubMed Central. Full text of all articles will be made freely available to the public.
Beginning May 25th, 2008 anyone submitting an application, proposal or progress report to the NIH must include the PubMed Central or NIH Manuscript submission reference number when citing applicable articles.
The School of Medicine Library has created a web page with links to numerous helpful resources including news, instructions on the submission process, copyright, and citation format changes.
The School of Medicine Library will help School of Medicine faculty meet the NIH requirements by sharing updated information, identifying publisher policies, and meeting with authors as requested. For more information contact Christine Whitaker, Collection Development Librarian, at 733-3346 or cwhitaker@med.sc.edu.
