A highly commercialized web site that offers a rather impressive
catalog of resources including some categories that you might
not find on others.
GeriatricWeb
A digital library of links to peer-reviewed geriatric resources
to be used in the care of the older patient and in the education
of health care professionals. GeriatricWeb is a collaboration
between the University of South Carolina School of Medicine
Library and the Geriatrics Division of Palmetto Health.

You can search over 150 categories of health services and
providers, like community health and dental clinics, assisted
living facilities, dialysis services, acupuncturists, genetic
counselors, family physicians, and speech therapists.

Web Directory -- Health
Organizes sites into 37 sub-categories and states the number
of sites listed in each one. Also provides access to the powerful

Carolina
Focuses on health issues of particular interest to South Carolinians
and provides links to high quality websites that are easy to
navigate and provide appropriate and useful information. The
information is intended for the use of laypersons, not health
professionals, and is presented in a format that people of all
age groups, reading abilities and education levels will be able
to comprehend.

Meta-Directory of Internet Health Sources
A well-organized and comprehensive list of life and health
science sites maintained by the University of Iowa's Hardin
Health Sciences Library. Sites are categorized by "Diseases
& Conditions" and by "Health Disciplines." The side bar contains
additional links to useful sources of information.

and Human Services Data Resources Directory
Produced for policymakers, administrators, researchers, and
the public as a reference document on data resources within
HHS. A compilation of information about virtually all major
data collection systems sponsored by the U.S. Department of
Health and Human Services.
Health Web
A subject directory of links to specific, evaluated information
resources on the World Wide Web. It was created and is maintained
by librarians from academic medical centers in the Midwest.
Selection emphasizes quality information aimed at assisting
health care professionals as well as consumers in meeting their
health information needs.
HealthFinder
From the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion
of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. A comprehensive
collection of medical sites. The health library has selected
sites dealing with prevention, diseases and conditions and alternative
medicine and includes links to medical distionaries, encyclopedias
and journals. An alphabetical listing is easy to use, but if
you can't find it through the listing, you also have a search
option. Also provides links to information about organizations,
institutions, physicians and agencies. Includes age specific
sites and some Spanish language sites.

Health.gov is a portal to the Web sites of a number of multi-agency
health initiatives and activities of the U.S. Department of
Health and Human Services and other Federal departments and
agencies.
Karolinska Institute
Biomedical Information Resources and Services, by subject.
Can locate information by clicking on broad categories or by
performing a word search. Maintained by the Karolinska Institute
Library.
Martindale's Health
Science Guide
This site is maintained by James Martindale and hosted on
a server at the library of the University of California, Irvine.
It covers a wide range of topics, but this link will take you
to the Health Sciences Guide. There are links to thousands of
sites. The organization seems a little awkward, but, with patience,
you will discover many useful links.
MedWeb
A site developed and maintained by the Health Sciences Center
Library at Emory University. You can search the site (advanced
or quick search) or browse through their subject categories.
MInd: The Meeting
Index
MInd: The Meetings Index is produced by InterDok, publishers
of "Directory of Published Proceedings." You can search this
database to find information about meetings in the following
categories: Science/Technology, Medical/ Life Sciences, Pollution
Control/Ecology and Social Sciences/Humanities. The system permits
searching by keyword, sponsor, country, state/province, category
and year.

Information Center

OAIster is a project of the University of Michigan Digital
Library Production Service. Searchable database of over 5 million
freely available records, including online full text, images,

PandemicFlu.gov
The PandemicFlu.gov website is the official US government
website for information on the subject, including avian influenza
and has information for both the general public and health
professionals. PandemicFlu.gov is intended to provide comprehensive
government-wide information on pandemic influenza and avian
influenza. In the event of a pandemic, this will be the authoritative
site for U.S. government information.
Scirus
Elsevier's science-specific search engine. Besides identifying
scientific web sites, Scirus also includes results from MEDLINE,
Science Direct, and PubMed Central.
Toxicology
& Environmental Health
Evaluated resources on toxicology and environmental health
issues by the National Library of Medicine's Specialized Information
Services.
Yahoo -- Health
A highly commercialized web site, but boasts an excellent
subject list of health related links. Included is the search
capability that allows you to limit your search just to sites
related to health. This is done by clicking on "All of Yahoo"
and selecting instead just the health category.

CAPHIS "Top 100" List
Compiled by the members of the Consumer and Patient Health
Information Section of the Medical Library Association. These
sites meet the Criteria
for Assessing the Quality of Health Information on the Internet
of the Health Summit Working Group. These criteria include:
credibility, sponsorship/authorship, content, audience, currency,
disclosure, purpose, links, design, interactivity, and caveats.
MedlinePlus
Created by the National Library of Medicine primarily to assure
an authorative source for health information for the lay person.
However, it should be very beneficial to anyone seeking medical
information, especially about particular diseases. Animated
tutorials assist consumers in understanding medical procedures
and conditions.
