Appeals Policy

Library users may submit appeal forms for the following reasons:

Fines
The School of Medicine Library encourages users to return materials on time. If fines accumulate, then users can request the fines to be waived. This consideration will be given once depending on the circumstances.

Overdue Materials
If a user’s account is blocked because of overdue books, then we can override the account once if an appeal form is submitted. The override will allow the user to check out materials.

Materials Claimed Returned
If a user has materials that he/she claims were returned or if items are on the user’s record that the user claims is not his/hers, then an appeal form should be submitted. The materials will be placed on a search list, and the user will be given regular library privileges.

Miscellaneous
Appeals can be used to resolve situations which require special consideration or when a supervisor is not available.
